$5.00 admission; Free for members of the Schenectady County Historical Society.
Registration encouraged.
Join us as we celebrate Schenectady County’s black history. This program will have living history performances focusing on former slaves who escaped the shackles of slavery and discrimination to achieve greatness. It will also include a walking tour of the Stockade neighborhood focusing on the area’s black history and a presentation by the Underground Railroad History Project. Refreshments will be served after the walking tour.
Living History Performances will include:
- ALANI – Anthony Allen, The Journey From Slavery in Schenectady to Entrepreneur in Hawaii by Donald Hyman
- Mary Lloyd Stewart and Julia Foote by Lucille Taylor
- Moses Viney by Walter Simpkins
