August 13, 2021Proctors Collaborative to Require Vaccinations at Theatrical Performances Through Nov. 15
Proctors Collaborative announced today that it is requiring vaccinations for audience members at all seated theatrical performances through Nov. 15. This is in addition to the recently announced policy that masks are required of all individuals visiting its buildings.
The new policy for theatrical performances mandates that all ticketholders 12 years old and older are required to show proof of full COVID vaccination for entry; a fully vaccinated individual’s last dose must have been administered at least 14 days before the event. Patrons must bring a photo ID and one of the following to gain admittance: a physical vaccination card, a photograph of vaccination card or a digital vaccination record (ie. Excelsior Pass). All patrons, regardless of age, are required to wear masks inside the theatres at all times.
Among the upcoming affected performances are the world premiere of “The Right Girl” Oct. 13- Nov. 10 at Proctors and “Ethel Waters: His Eye is On the Sparrow” at Capital Repertory Theatre, which runs Aug. 20-Sept. 26.
The vaccination policy does not apply to guests for non-theatrical activities in its venues, including meetings, educational classes and private events. Among programs exempt from the policy is the Dinosaurs in Motion exhibition, which is not a seated theatrical event, at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga, which runs through Oct. 17.
“The vaccination policy was already put in place for all staff earlier this summer and when Broadway recently extended its vaccination mandate beyond performers and backstage crew to include audiences, we decided to follow suit,” said Proctors CEO Philip Morris. “The rise in coronavirus infection rates in the Capital Region dictates enhanced safety measures as part of good public policy, and we do not want to risk our ability to fully restart!”
Morris added that all facilities – in Proctors in Schenectady, theRep in Albany and UPH in Saratoga Springs – have had air handling systems upgraded to MERV-13 filtration while also providing a fixed 35 percent rate of exchange of fresh outside air, making the indoor environment as safe as possible.
“Our websites have details on which events require vaccines,” Morris added, “and we will take thorough measures to communicate with impacted ticket holders. Ticketholders who are not able to meet this new safety requirement will be eligible for a refund.”
