Playwright Daniel Elihu Kramer at December 7 Performance of Civic Player’s Pride@Prejudice

Daniel Elihu Kramer, playwright of Pride@Prejudice which opens Friday, December 6  at Schenectady Civic Players, will be in attendance Saturday December 7, and will give a talk-back after the performance.

Pride@Prejudice, a fairly faithful yet also fun and irreverent theatrical version of Jane Austen’s classic novel, includes 21st century sensibilities within the 1820 setting of the story. Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy fall in love all over again — this time filtered through the world of the internet. Modern voices interject and build on this classic love story in the form of blog posts, chat room discussions, quotes from film adaptations, and even letters from Ms. Austen herself to create a delightfully postmodern view of 19th century England.

The second play of Schenectady Civic Players’ 92nd Season, Pride@Prejudice, directed by Mark Stephens, plays through Sunday, December 15 at its 12 South Church Street Playhouse in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district. Tickets are $20.  Order on-line at www.civicplayers.org   Or call (518) 382-2081.
