Pathways Academy Faculty, Staff Parade around Region to Celebrate Grads

Four area seniors were celebrated this week by faculty and staff of the Capital Region BOCES Pathways Academy.

The four students from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Mohonasen, Watervliet and Niskayuna attended the two-year-old Pathways Academy located on the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School Albany Campus as a means of making up classes they didn’t have success with in their home districts.

At the same time, they learned employability skills, such as how to prepare for a job interview and how to effectively communicate.

The students – Brenden Frank of Mohonasen, Percy Claus of Niskayuna, David VanVranken of Watervliet and Alexandria “Rosita” Guerra of Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District – received their graduation certificates, balloons and $30 gift cards during the parade of faculty and staff members.

“The students and families were very appreciative and all said they would not have graduated without the program, specifically the specialized attention we provided,” Principal Chris Fatta said.

“The parade was a lot of fun for the Pathways staff, graduates, and their families. It was a nice way to say congratulations for a job well done with a great send-off,” he added.

Taking part in the parade were Fatta, Social Worker Jennifer Coso, Teaching Assistant Jennifer Pavone and Teachers Brenton Krause, Jeannette Beebe and Alisa Sorokurs.
