Outdoor Yoga at Stuyvesant Plaza

Join The Hot Yoga Spot and yogis from across the Capital Region for an outdoor yoga fundraiser at 7:00 p.m. This event takes place at the backside of Stuyvesant Plaza on the grass by the Fuller Road entrance to the shopping center. The fundraiser is happening on the summer solstice, International Yoga Day, and all money raised is being donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The yoga session will be instructed by four teachers from across the Capital Region and a guest instructor from Philadelphia, PA. Ashley Enekes, Constituent Event Manager from the Alzheimer’s Association will be at the session to greet participants when they arrive. Local businesses such as Bellini’s Counter, Alexander’s Bakery, Athleta, Lulu Lemon, and more will be providing snacks, donated goods and items for purchase to all attendees. There are already over 45 people registered for the event with donations totaling over $900. The Hot Yoga Spot expects many additional participants to sign up that night and donate when they arrive.

Each year, the Alzheimer’s Association hosts hundreds of events, nationwide on the first day of Summer. Fundraisers are held on the longest day of the year because for those caring for loved ones with Alzehimer’s, every day is the longest day. The Alzheimer’s Association works on a global, national and local level to provide care and support for those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Many of the instructors at The Hot Yoga Spot have had their lives personally touched by Alzheimer’s. “Our goal is to raise money and awareness for those fighting this disease and for those caring for afflicted loved ones. We also hope to show caregivers that they have support in the community and are not alone,” said Mary Beth Finnerty, instructor at The Hot Yoga Spot and lead presenter for Wednesday’s event.  “We are encouraging our yoga students from across the Capital Region to shine their light and share their love by joining us, and thousands across the country, as we team up with the Alzheimer’s Association to fund research and increase awareness.”
