May 19, 2020Our Events May be Canceled, But We’re Always Caring
Dear friends,
We hope this note finds you happy, healthy, and safe!
The COVID-19 crisis didn’t stop Northern Rivers from doing our essential work, even for a moment. Empowering children, adults, and families to change their lives and build stronger communities isn’t a 9-to-5 job. It’s our mission, one that we live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are always caring for those in need. Since our first day in 1829, we’ve seen wars, natural disasters, the Great Depression and the Great Recession, the Macarena, blizzards, and now COVID-19—and we’re still here. That doesn’t mean we haven’t had to make some tough decisions.
In order to social distance and protect our community, we have decided to cancel our 2020 in-person events. As much as we would love to see you, we know it’s the right thing to do for everyone’s health and safety.
What’s not canceled? Youth making their homes in our residential facilities day and night with around-the-clock care. Staff leaving their own families to help our children stay safe and healthy. Teams filling their cars with emergency food, diapers, and formula to deliver to our families’ doorsteps. Therapists conducting telemental health sessions. Just to name a few activities…
We never keep our distance from those in need. And while we can’t get together in person these days to make new friendships and reinforce longstanding ones, we still need your help and support to continue living our mission. Won’t you help us meet that goal by supporting our Always Caring campaign?
