Our Ability Update- The Journey Continues

Journey 2018

After promising we would not cycle across New York State again in 2018, we will be getting on our cycles after all. Back by popular demand, and with the support of our sponsors, we will be cycling for three days in New York State in the summer of 2018. Then, we will be taking our cycles abroad!

On June 8, with the support from M & T Bank and the disability community in Western New York, we will be cycling from Canalside Park in Buffalo to Lockport on day one.

On June 9, we will be cycling in the Rochester area, with the support of Wegmans, from Pittsford to Newark, New York. In August, we will be cycling from Amsterdam to Schenectady. This day will raise awareness of and support for our employment initiatives in the capital region with Price Chopper/Market 32 as well as the community of individuals with disabilities and employment service providers. In years past, we have worked with Liberty and Schenectady ARC to raise awareness.

Because of awareness raised for the past five years, we have been invited this year to cycle for four days along the Scottish canal system in the United Kingdom. From June 26-28, 2018, we will be raising awareness in Scotland for individuals with disabilities in regard to accessibility, adaptive sport and employment. We are excited to take our message to Scotland in 2018.

This opportunity is in large part due to the support of all of our members, sponsors and individuals who helped us the last five years. It is a wonderful opportunity to share our employment message to an international audience. If anyone wishes to sponsor, donate or get involved in New York State or in Scotland, please feel free to reach out to us directly. If you donate or get involved, please know that everything we do is to support the employment of individuals with disabilities and to inspire that we all live in an accessible, accommodating world.

While Scottish tourism is partially sponsoring our effort, we are looking for corporate and individual donations to assist our travels. To donate or sponsor our trip to Scotland, click here .
