O’Keefe Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Siena Women’s Soccer senior captain Kirby O’Keefe has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 First Team selection. By virtue of her selection, the Wethersfield, Conn. native advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected in November.

The 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Teams recognize the nation’s top student athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom. O’Keefe is the Saints’ fifth Academic All-District Team honoree, joining Anna Grant (2014), Ashleigh Barone (2011), Patti Carroll (2007) and Amy Loughridge (2007).

O’Keefe has equally excelled both on the field and in the classroom throughout her four years at Siena College. Academically, O’Keefe boasts a stellar 3.91 cumulative GPA as a mathematics major. Siena College’s Leo Dufort Female Student Athlete of the Month for September, she has been selected to both the MAAC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll in each year of eligibility. A member of Siena Athletics’ “4.0 Club,” O’Keefe was recently inducted into the Phi Mu Epsilon National Honor Society for Mathematics.

On the field O’Keefe has played all 1,680 minutes this fall in starting all 18 of the Saints’ matches to date at center back. She has helped to anchor a Siena defensive unit which has tied a program single-season record with eight shutouts and which carries a shutout streak of 353:21 into postseason play, marking the second longest in program history. For her career O’Keefe has appeared in 65 matches (42 starts) and tallied seven points. She’s recorded three points on a goal and an assist for far this season.

Winners of three straight and unbeaten in their last four matches overall, the red-hot Saints and O’Keefe head into the MAAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and travel to third seeded Marist for a quarterfinal matchup Sunday at 2 p.m.
