NY Yankees’ Starting Pitcher Luis Severino at #518Gives Telethon

Luis Severino, starting pitcher with the New York Yankees, will appear as a special sports guest at the #518Gives Telethon to benefit the Center for Disability Services on Sunday, January 29. Severino will join Giants’ running back Paul Perkins at the Radisson Hotel Albany, formerly the Holiday Inn Albany, at 205 Wolf Road. He will appear in the sports area, which is presented by UHY LLP, from noon to 3 p.m., and will sign autographs. A limited number of photos and footballs will be for sale that day. All proceeds from the telethon support the Center and its divisions, Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center, Life Quality Solutions Incubator, Prospect Center in Queensbury and St. Margaret’s Center in Albany.

Severino, who was born in the Dominican Republic, made his major league debut with the New York Yankees in August 2015. Signed as an international free agent in 2012, he made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League. His fastball velocity has been recorded at 97 miles per hour.

The New York Yankees have a large fan base in Albany and have played a major part in the fundraising broadcast for years. Past special guests include Gaylord Perry, (the late) Ryne Duren, Rusty Torres and Frank Tepedino (2002), Goose Gossage (2003), Jorge Posada (2004), Joe Girardi (2005), Bubba Crosby (2006), Scott Proctor (2007), Shelley Duncan (2008), Brian Bruney (2009), Brett Gardner (2010), David Robertson (2011), Joba Chamberlain (2012), Cody Eppley (2013), Shawn Kelley (2014), Adam Warren (2015) and Didi Gregorius (2016).
