February 1, 2021Northwestern Mutual’s New Headquarters Opens in Albany
The Chamber was delighted to host the Northwestern Mutual ribbon cutting on Thursday, January 28th at their brand new headquarters off of Albany Shaker Road in Albany, NY.
The company will no longer hold a Latham address for the first time since its local inception in 1889. However, it will finally unite the Latham and Albany offices after 25 years of working in separate locations, while adding 40% more space. A move that intends to increase efficiencies and impact.
“I’m excited for our expansion in the Capital Region because I have a passion for our community, who we are, and what we do,” says Alex Tronco, Northwestern Mutual Managing Partner. “The pandemic has shown us a growing need for expertise in the financial security arena, and our agency is in an excellent position to meet that need. We have an amazing team of financial professionals to help secure financial futures for our clients, and we now have the space to continue to add to that team.”
An attraction for new hires, as well as current advisors and staff, are amenities such as a private gym and yoga room. The modern space will re-energize their dynamic and supportive culture, even during a time of social distancing. Remote work will still be offered as needed.
Northwestern Mutual had secured local contractors and companies for this project before the pandemic materialized, which turned out to be an especially impactful decision.
“Adapting construction to meet COVID-19 safety protocols and restrictions has been a challenge, but we are glad to have supported the local workforce at such a time of uncertainty in our economy,” said Tronco.
“Working through the pandemic offered significant challenges but through close partnership with Northwestern Mutual, British American was able to complete the project on time and within budget,” said Chris Conners, President, British American Construction Services.
While Northwestern Mutual will occupy a majority of the 50,000 square foot, four story building, Prestige Hospitality Group will have offices within a section of the first floor.
The office is located at 1 Northwestern Boulevard off Albany Shaker Road, near the Shaker Ridge Country Club and Tru by Hilton hotel.
