March 19, 2019Northern Rivers Receives $25,000 in Grants for Crisis Services, Foster Care Camp, Early Head Start
Northern Rivers Family of Services member agency Parsons Child & Family Center, has been awarded $10,000 grants for its Camp to Belong and Early Head Start programs and a $5,000 grant for its Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Team.
The Charles R. Wood Foundation award of $10,000 will be used to help fund operations for Camp to Belong New York. Each summer, the program reunites siblings separated by the foster care system for a week of bonding and fun at Camp Chingachgook in Lake George. This year, camp will run from June 28 to July 3.
The William Gundry Broughton Charitable Private Foundation award of $10,000 will support the organization’s Early Head Start services in Schenectady. Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides free home- and center-based services to families struggling with poverty who are pregnant or have children from birth to age 3.
The Review Foundation award of $5,000 will help support a child and adolescent case management position for the Mobile Crisis team, part of a rapid-response community mental health program designed to safely divert children and adults from emergency room visits and hospitalizations. The case manager plans next steps and links children and families to follow-up services, facilitating the transition from crisis to stabilization and to other community agencies for ongoing treatment and support.
