Northern Rivers Receives $20k to Fund School-Based Behavioral Health in Cambridge

Northern Rivers Family of Services has been awarded a $20,000 grant by the Mary McClelland Foundation to fund School-Based Behavioral Health services in the Cambridge Central School District.

Northern Rivers’ School-Based Behavioral Health services locate a Northern Rivers NYS Office of Mental Health licensed mental health clinic in a participating school, providing students and families with social, emotional, and behavioral health counseling. This grant will help pay for salaries of clinicians within the school who are available to the students and families 24 hours a day, every day, throughout the school year and summer.

This grant has also enabled Northern Rivers purchase hardware and software equipment to provide telepsychiatry services in Cambridge. This secure software will provides immediate psychiatric assistance to a patient, as a psychiatrist is not readily available in the Cambridge Central School District.

“We are incredibly thankful for the generous grant from the Mary McClelland Foundation,” said William T. Gettman Jr. CEO of Northern Rivers Family of Services. “There is a need for school based behavior health clinics state wide, and with this funding, Northern Rivers is successfully able to offer another school district a clinic. Between telepsychiatry and our committed staff, this behavioral health clinic will positively impact another large group of students and families in our community.”
