Northern Rivers Names Senior Residential Directors

Northern Rivers Family of Services announced that Wilhemina (“Wendy”) Shepherd has been hired as Senior Director of Residential Services for Northeast Parent & Child Society, and that Chelsea Hanselman has been promoted to Senior Director of Residential Services for Parsons Child & Family Center.

Shepherd will provide oversight and supervision for the Children’s Home, group homes, and independent living apartments in Schenectady. Hanselman will provide oversight and supervision for residences on the organization’s Albany campus, as well as group homes in Albany.

Shepherd previously served as a school social worker with the Albany Community Charter School, the City School District of Albany and the Brighter Choice Charter School. She has also worked as a residential social work supervisor at St. Catherine’s Center for Children, as a program director for Girls Incorporated and a residential director for Community Maternity Services. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College and her Master of Social Work from the University at Albany.

Hanselman joined the organization as a residential counselor in 2007, and subsequently served as a program coordinator and director for several residential programs. She has also worked as an after-hours crisis worker for CONTACT Lifeline and as a resource counselor for Transitional Living Services in Syracuse. She earned her bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College and her Master of Educational Psychology from Saint Rose.
