July 29, 2026Northeastern Insurance Completes Fourth Annual Volunteer Week, Including $2,000 Donation to Support Children’s Literacy
Northeastern Insurance recently completed its Fourth Annual Volunteer Week, a company-wide community service initiative that brought all 41 employees together to volunteer with five nonprofit organizations throughout the Capital Region. This year’s initiative was even more impactful, including a combined $2,000 donation to support childhood literacy with a carrier partner Dryden Mutual Insurance Company.
Throughout the week, Northeastern Insurance employees dedicated their time to projects that directly benefit local families, children, and individuals in need. This year’s Volunteer Week included partnerships with:
- United Way of the Greater Capital Region
- Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore Program
- The Salvation Army of Albany
- Regional Food Bank
The week began with one of the agency’s largest volunteer efforts at United Way of the Greater Capital Region, where 17 Northeastern Insurance and Dryden Mutual Insurance employees assembled 40 literacy kits for children enrolled in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library- complete with reading flashcards, reading guides, various resources and stuffed animals.
During the event, Northeastern Insurance presented a $2,000 donation to United Way’s literacy initiatives. Dryden Mutual Insurance Company generously contributed $1,000 towards the effort, and Northeastern Insurance matched the donation to double the impact. The funds will help expand access to books and early childhood literacy resources for local families.
Additional Volunteer Week Projects Completed–
- Ronald McDonald House: prepared and served dinner and dessert for 30 families currently staying at the house, free of charge. Meal included extensive build your own taco/burrito bowls, brownies and blueberry muffins.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore Program: sorted donated furniture and completed huge store cleanout to organize the space.
- Salvation Army: Prepped and packaged more than 150 meals, including chicken salad and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Caesar salad, and fruit. Delivered on their Mobile Canteen Truck to various locations throughout the community, free of charge.
- Regional Food Bank: sorted thousands of donated food items and packed boxes for distribution to other charitable agencies in the Northeast.
“Volunteer Week has become one of the most rewarding traditions at Northeastern Insurance,” said Michael Venezio, President & CEO of Northeastern Insurance. “Each year, our team looks forward to stepping outside the office to support organizations that are making a real difference in our community. We’re especially grateful to our partners at Dryden Mutual Insurance Company for helping make this year’s literacy initiative possible through their generous donation. Together, we’re investing in opportunities that can change a child’s future.”
Evan Brown, Marketing Representative from Dryden Mutual also added, “United Way is also near and dear to Dryden Mutual. It seems like literacy and education often take a backseat to other more urgent “front line” causes/issues, but education and fostering curiosity and growth are incredibly important mechanisms for breaking some unfortunate societal cycles.”
Now in its fourth year, Annual Volunteer Week reflects Northeastern Insurance’s ongoing commitment to giving back through both volunteer service and charitable partnerships. By dedicating an entire week each year to community service, the agency continues to support organizations that strengthen the Capital Region and improve the lives of local residents.
