November 13, 2017Niskayuna Wine and Liquor Opens Under New Owners
For over 40 years, Niskayuna Wines & Liquors has been a popular locally-owned fixture on Nott Street in Niskayuna. Now, Anne Leonelli-Gallo, a Niskayuna native herself, has taken over the reins from the Scanlan family. Anne & her husband Dave Gallo are happy to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony at the store will take place at 4pm on November 10th.
After many years in sales for both the computer and pharmaceutical industries, Anne had a desire to leave the corporate world behind; Niskayuna Wines & Liquors represented a perfect opportunity. The sale was a perfect fit both for Anne and the Scanlan family as it continued the local ownership that has been the hallmark and strength of this store. The sense of continuity is enhanced by knowledgeable service provided by long-term staff. The wide selection of wines was personally hand-picked by Peter Scanlan, who owned and managed the store for 17 years.
“I wanted to ensure a smooth transition from our family to the Gallos,” said Peter Scanlan, who stayed on to work with Anne after the sale in September. The store is the Scanlan family’s legacy and it is important to them that their customers continue to be well-served and that Anne’s new ownership is a success. “We intend to stay an important part of the community, and to build on the reputation developed by the Scanlans,” says Anne Gallo.
Anne is a graduate of Niskayuna High School and her husband Dave Gallo is an Albany native. She is enjoying meeting the many long-standing customers as well as seeing many people she grew up with. The store continues to be a family endeavor with family members from both sides working and helping in the store. Anne is also looking forward to adding her own personal touch to the store while keeping the same look and charm that draws in so many from the community.
