New Round of Capital Region BOCES Adult Education Classes to be Offered

Adults can manufacture more training opportunities and in the process heat-up and electrify their career outlook starting in March at Capital Region BOCES.

Classes in welding, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) and engineering technology and machining are being offered at the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School Albany Campus and the Center for Advanced Technology at Mohonasen in Rotterdam.

The classes – which will run late afternoon and early evenings – are open to students 18 years or older and run for 40 weeks.

Tuition is $6,000; tuition assistance may be available for displaced homemakers, individuals with disabilities, English language learners, single parents, veterans, as well as recipients of SNAP and TANF.

The courses are being through a Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) grant.

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program provides adult students with the education, training and experience needed to earn valuable national certifications and prepare for rewarding positions and/or career advancement. Units of study include: heating, ventilation, and air conditioning and much more.

Adult Welding students learn the skills and techniques necessary for success in a career that values well-trained, experienced workers. Training in shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG) welding and much more is provided in a state-of-the-art lab.

Adult Engineering Tech & Machining students learn how to enter the semi-conductor or manufacturing industries. They gain the certification and skills needed to operate various high- and low-tech production machines and create products needed in the high-tech industry and beyond.
