NBT Promotes Al Testa to President of Eastern New York and Connecticut Region
NBT Bank has announced the promotion of Al Testa to Regional President of the Capital Region and North Country. Additionally, his responsibilities have expanded to include supporting NBT’s commercial banking leaders and teams in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut as President of Eastern New York and Connecticut.
“Al is a strong contributor and has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication for our Capital Region commercial banking team,” said NBT Bank President of Commercial Banking Sarah Halliday. “It is exciting to promote talented individuals like Al into new roles with expanded responsibilities.”
Testa has 24 years of banking experience and has served as NBT’s Senior Vice President and Commercial Executive for the Capital District since May 2022. During his 13 years with NBT, he has completed the bank’s signature leadership development programs, which are designed to cultivate internal talent and expand upon institutional knowledge. Testa earned a bachelor’s degree from Siena College. He is active in the community and serves on the board of directors for the Center for Economic Growth. He is also active in industry organizations and serves on the American Bankers Association Commercial Real Estate Lending Committee.
Testa is assuming regional leadership responsibilities in the Capital Region and North Country from NBT’s President of Wealth Management Ruth Mahoney. Since 2022, Mahoney held this regional role in addition to her responsibility for the company’s wealth division. This change will allow her to focus on continuing to grow NBT Wealth Management. A division of NBT Bank and a provider of investment services, trust and estate planning, financial planning, private banking, retirement plans to high-net-worth individuals and businesses and organizations of all sizes, NBT Wealth Management currently has $11 billion in assets, $40 million in annual revenue and 95 employees across NBT’s seven-state footprint.
NBT Bancorp President & CEO Scott Kingsley said, “Ruth has been a tremendous leader for our entire team in eastern New York while leading our Wealth Management business. Transitioning her regional leadership responsibilities will give her the opportunity to focus her considerable skills toward her role on our Executive Management Team and to leading NBT Wealth Management at a pivotal time of growth for our company.”
