Meraki Hair Salon Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Elevated Space in Glenville

Meraki Hair Salon, a full-service hair salon dedicated to creativity, passion, and personalized care, celebrated its relocation to a new space at 14 Saratoga Road in Glenville with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Capital Region Chamber on March 27. The event highlighted not only the salon’s new chapter but also the resilience of owner Lisa Decerce and her team following a series of significant personal and professional challenges.

The salon’s name and philosophy served as a central theme throughout the afternoon. Shawn Daley of the Capital Region Chamber, explained that “Meraki” means to put soul, passion, creativity, and love into your work, noting that this spirit is clearly reflected in everything the team does.

Lisa Decerce, who has worked as a stylist for 38 years, shared the emotional journey leading up to the grand opening. After being given only three months to vacate her previous location in August 2025, she successfully opened the new salon by December 1. This transition took place during an especially difficult period in her life, marked by the passing of her ex-husband in October 2025 and her own breast cancer diagnosis later that year, which she has since overcome. Reflecting on her career, she shared that after decades in the industry, she had long envisioned opening her own salon. She expressed deep appreciation for her staff, describing them as a supportive team that stood by her through every challenge and saying they are like family. Celebrating both personal and professional milestones, she shared that she is now cancer-free and described the grand opening as a meaningful new beginning for herself and her team, adding that she feels incredibly blessed.

Local officials were also present to welcome Meraki to its new home in Glenville. Abigale Burke, representing Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh, presented a certificate on behalf of the 112th Assembly District and praised the team’s work and strong dynamic. Glenville Town Supervisor Robert Kirkham also recognized Decerce’s perseverance, resilience, and dedication, formally welcoming the business with a certificate of recognition.

The event concluded with a celebratory toast to the salon’s continued success in its new location. The occasion marked not only the opening of a new space but also the strength of community support, highlighted by a record number of flowers brought to the ceremony. As Meraki Hair Salon looks ahead, it continues to grow its team, currently training its newest member, Mia, who is attending hair school.
