Member Spotlight: We Are Revolutionary

We Are Revolutionary was officially launched in January 2023 by Lukee Forbes and Qubilah Sales, both individuals with firsthand experiences of adversity. Their mission is to address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by empowering communities through political education and self-development. With a focus on combating issues like mass incarceration, poverty, and racism, they aim to break the cycle of adversity by providing transformative educational and cultural experiences.

An interesting fact about We Are Revolutionary that most people don’t know is that they organize people through a trauma-informed lens. Their goal is to bring individuals out of their city environments and connect them with the world through various experiences, all while advocating to address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Whether it’s visiting a mountain, the World Trade Center, attending a theater play, or traveling to another country, their approach aims to broaden horizons and foster resilience in those we serve.

An interesting and fun tidbit about We Are Revolutionary is that they have an Emotional Support Dog named Freyja. Freyja is a grey pit bull who is filled with love and is here to support members who may be feeling depressed.

Their organization stands out from their competitors because, as advocates, they uniquely acknowledge and address the adverse experiences their members have faced before they share their stories in advancing our political campaigns. They are known for this because their members not only help spread the word but also contribute to the development of trauma-informed analysis and practices, which enables them to effectively address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This holistic approach sets them apart from their competitors and reinforces their commitment to supporting individuals through their unique challenges.

As a member doing business in the Capital Region, We Are Revolutionary has tapped into the Chamber as a valuable resource by leveraging their platform to connect with partners and amplify their message and mission across the region.

“My favorite part about living and working in the Capital Region, especially Albany, is the direct access it provides to legislators during budget and legislative sessions. This proximity allows us to remain informed and maintain pressure on legislators, which is essential for advocating effectively for our causes.”

“The nicest thing a customer/member has ever said about our organization was when one of our members shared that participating in one of our trips allowed their son to spend the night with them for the first time in 3 years. Due to their past, the other parent no longer trusted them, but after engaging with our organization, they were able to rebuild that trust. This heartwarming story brought tears to our founders and leaders.”
