Member Spotlight: Sky Photos LLC

Sky Photos LLC, founded in 2019 by owner and Chief Pilot Craig Weston, is a leading provider of aerial photography and videography services. The company specializes in thermal imaging, photomosaic photos, and natural light photo and video services, including handheld and 360-degree equipment. Catering to industries like construction, transportation, architecture, and industrial inspection, Sky Photos creates media for marketing, events, and more. The range of clients the that Sky Photos works with in documenting sites includes: construction, architects, banks, and building maintenance teams requiring data for insulation or roofing analysis. Additionally, the business offers safety and project consulting for clients with their own drone programs, drawing on Craig’s expertise in process engineering and incident management. As an FAA volunteer DronePRO, Craig provides guidance on drone safety and flight regulations, answering questions at craigw@skyphotosllc.com.

Looking ahead, Sky Photos has ambitious goals for 2025, including flying more drones, streamlining sales automation and FAA processes, and expanding to hire an additional employee. Long-term aspirations involve expanding services beyond the Northeast, acquiring advanced certifications like beyond-line-of-sight operation, and further growth.

One unique aspect of Sky Photos is that Craig won his first drone at a 2015 “devops” software conference and used it professionally to uncover fascinating findings, such as the ruins of an unexpected castle during a real estate project. This spirit of discovery continues in projects like documenting a historic bridge for an architect and capturing the overnight “supermove” of a million-pound power component across New Hampshire.

Sky Photos stands out for its high-end thermal and cinematic drones and Craig’s certification in thermography, complemented by job-site credentials like TWIC and OSHA-10. His degree in computer art and experience in digital media production also give the company a creative edge.

Membership in the Chamber has been pivotal for Craig, “The chamber gives me several things. The main reason I joined is to practice networking. I’m not a “natural” networker and am somewhat “faceblind.” To me it is a learned skill, and like any skills it needs practice to continue working, and attending events regularly means that I occasionally recognize people too. To me wearing nametags is really important! I also enjoy the training opportunities to meet new people and learn about businesses. I’ve been a part time serial entrepreneur for most of my adult life, even when working in other industries, and I love talking about how businesses operate.” Chamber events, training sessions, and resources like announcements and networking tools have been instrumental in growing the business.

As a long-time resident of the Capital Region, Craig appreciates the sense of home the area provides. Among the highlights of his career is receiving a heartfelt recommendation from a project manager at a national construction company. “One of my longest running clients recently wrote me a page long recommendation. A project manager at a national construction company took time out of their day to tell me how much I help them with their project.  I read the letter nearly every day to inspire me. ”
