Jeffrey Ives in an entrepreneur with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Siena College. He also completed his graduate work to become a psychologist in Vermont. Mr. Ives has been a psychologist for the Office of Mental Health for the past 12 years, where he worked inside the walls of maximum security prisons.
In 2015, Mr. Ives purchased Jonathan Reid Menswear, a company with 50 years of service in areas surrounding the Capital District and beyond. At one time, Jonathan Reid was synonymous with men’s clothing throughout this area and even ventured into Massachusetts.
Mr. Ives started working at Jonathan Reid while he was attending undergraduate school at Siena. He believed there was a great opportunity for success, although the current vision of the store was not conducive to obtaining that success. Working part-time at the store for many years while retaining his job as a psychologist, Mr. Ives was able to create a plan of success based on the current trends of the fashion market, and believed with the right changes, Jonathan Reid could return to its previous glory.
After 3 years are re-vamping his Queensbury, NY location, Mr. Ives decided that it was time to try a bigger market, where the potential clientele pool was significantly higher for the products that he sells.
Jonathan Reid focuses on tailored men’s clothing, specifically suits, sport coats, outerwear, pants, and all the accessories that go along with dressing whatever part you require. Says Mr. Ives, “Our tailor is superb at making sure your outfits fit you in a manner that you can easily tell the difference between tailored products and off the rack items. We like to give our clients a shopping ‘experience’ so they not only acquire a great product, but also leave with a better working knowledge of what their styles and tastes are going forward.”
