Pauline Bartel founded Bartel Communications, Inc., in 1997 as a corporate communications firm. From those early days of offering public relations and writing services, Pauline expanded the company over the years to include business-anniversary marketing services and business writing training. Now she has introduced a suite of services that help aspiring writers become published authors. She offers book coaching, editorial services and ghostwriting.
“I view these new services as a higher level of public relations for thought leaders, especially those wishing to tell their stories and share their wisdom,” Pauline says. “For a thought leader, a published book is the new business card.”
Her expertise in this area comes from more than three decades of success as an award-winning professional writer. She is the author of eight nonfiction books, including The Complete GONE WITH THE WIND Trivia Book (2nd edition). She has also ghostwritten books and a range of custom content for business experts. Among her clients is Denise Horan, principal of Integrated Management & Sales Consulting.
For years, writing a book had been one of Denise’s goals. Yet she hesitated because the book-writing process seemed overwhelming. She pushed the goal to the bottom of her to-do list, and more years went by. Finally, she knew she needed help and hired Pauline as her book coach.
“What a great decision! Pauline simplified the book-writing process immediately,” Denise says. “Pauline was knowledgeable and helpful. She had experience helping many people before me and had published her own successful books. I had full confidence in her abilities to assist me.”
Pauline provided a customized coaching program tailored to Denise’s goals and needs. The program included a weekly phone call to discuss Denise’s writing progress and problems, accountability tasks for Denise to complete before the next call, email communication between calls to keep Denise on track and feedback on Denise’s book in progress.
“But it was not only about Pauline’s skills and assistance – she was a motivator,” Denise says. “I cherished the constructive criticism mixed in with a great deal of motivation. I knew she wanted me to succeed. As a result, I welcomed my first book – Stories from the Sales Field: Navigating a Sales Career in a Post-Pandemic World – thanks to Pauline.”
Pauline met Denise initially through the Chamber, as both were members of the Women’s Business Council.
“That’s the value of a Chamber membership,” Pauline says. “Members have many opportunities to connect with other members by serving on a committee, attending networking events and participating in leads groups. I like to think of Chamber membership as a business success smorgasbord because the Chamber offers something for everybody.”
