Marvin And Company, P.C. Names Youngest Female Director

Heather LewisMarvin and Company, P.C., one of the Capital Region’s leading accounting, auditing, taxation and management consulting firms, is pleased to announce that Heather R. Lewis, CPA has been named a Director and Shareholder. Lewis is the youngest female director in the firm’s over 90-year history.  Lewis joined the firm in 2002 and previously served as a senior assurance manager.

“Heather brings years of demonstrated excellence in the areas of technical expertise, firm leadership, financial performance, staff development, teamwork, personal effectiveness, client relationship management, business development and community leadership,” said Kevin J. McCoy, CPA, managing partner for Marvin and Company, P.C.  “My colleagues and I are honored to welcome Heather into the partnership and congratulate her for her hard work and outstanding leadership.”

Heather has more than 14 years’ experience providing accounting, auditing and tax services to various entities including school districts, governmental organizations, rehabilitation organizations and not-for-profits. She is one of three members of the Firm’s audit and accounting executive committee, responsible for monitoring compliance with professional standards, proactively implementing new standards, and developing staff training programs.

In addition, Heather leads the firm’s school district auditing and consulting practice. She has been a key member of the firm’s coaching program since its inception nearly a decade ago, mentoring more than a dozen young professionals. She provides all of the firm’s continuing professional education (CPE) on the Government Accountability Office (GAO) accounting, auditing and compliance topics.

Heather is also a certified peer reviewer who is called upon as a participant in peer reviews of other CPA firms when her expertise in governmental auditing and accounting is required. She is a frequent presenter at the New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO) Annual Conference and treasurer training.

Heather is an integral part of the operations of the Accounting and Auditing practice at the firm and is relied upon heavily to provide leadership and serve as a role model to our staff and is a trusted professional to her many clients.

Heather is a board member and the treasurer for Ingersoll Place Assisted Living Facility and serves on the treasurer’s Steering Committee of the NYS Association of School Business Officials. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA Government Audit Quality Center, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and an active member of the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce. She is also very active among several women’s networking groups.
