Marcella’s Appliance Center Acquires Cocca’s Appliances

www.marcellasappliance.com, a family-owned leader in appliance retail since 1957, today announced the acquisition of Cocca’s Appliances www.coccasappliancestv.com. The transaction, which will take effect on Monday January 19th, underscores Marcella’s commitment to thoughtful expansion and reinforces its position as the Capital Region’s premier appliance destination.

The deal brings together two respected family businesses with decades of service to the community. Cocca’s Appliances, founded by Frank Cocca in 1981, has built its reputation on a customer-first approach, strong vendor relationships, and a hands-on management style that has delivered exceptional service for generations of Capital Region families.

“When I began to think about succession planning, my top priority was ensuring that both my loyal customers and my employees would be in good hands,” said Frank Cocca, founder of Cocca’s Appliances. “Marcella’s reputation for integrity, quality, and service made them the natural choice. I know my customers will continue to be cared for, and my employees will have the opportunity to thrive.”

Marcella’s Appliance Center is led by John Marcella and Lori Marcella, with Lori, the wife of founder John Marcella Sr, serving as co-owner, and John’s grandson John Marcella serving as co-owner and operator. Together, the family has continued the company’s proud tradition of excellence while guiding it through a new era of growth and modernization.

Founded in 1957 by John Marcella Sr, the company began as a small neighborhood appliance shop in Schenectady, built on the promise of personal service and community trust. Over the past six decades, Marcella’s has grown into one of the region’s most respected appliance retailers, known for its deep product expertise, family values, and dedication to customer satisfaction.

“This expansion allows us to strengthen our presence in the Capital Region and bring our unmatched selection and service to even more customers,” said John Marcella, co-owner of Marcella’s Appliance Center. “Frank has built something special, and we are honored to carry forward his legacy.”

Lori Marcella, co-owner, added: “Our family has always believed that the success of a business is rooted in the relationships it builds—with customers, employees, and the community,” Lori said. “Frank’s philosophy reflects that same belief, which makes this transition such a natural fit. We’re proud to welcome Cocca’s into our family.”

The acquisition was facilitated by WP Strategic Consulting, with Todd Kletter, Managing Partner, playing a key role in initiating and structuring the deal. Kletter, who previously guided Marcella’s through its 2024 acquisition of Adirondack Appliances, helped identify Cocca’s as a complementary addition to the Marcella’s portfolio.

“This transaction exemplifies what can be accomplished when two respected family businesses come together with a shared goal of preserving legacy while pursuing growth,” said Todd Kletter, Managing Partner at WP Strategic Consulting. “From the first conversation with Frank to finalizing the details with the Marcellas, our focus was on creating a transition that benefited customers, employees, and ownership alike. I’m honored to have helped bring this deal to the finish line.”

Marcella’s will continue operations at Cocca’s Albany location at 158 Railroad Avenue, Albany, NY 12205. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
