The Makeup Curio Holds Grand Opening on State Street in Schenectady

The Chamber and it’s Ambassadors, along with local officials, family and lots of friends helped the owner/operator Jenn Dugan open the doors to her new downtown boutique on Friday, October 13th.
The Makeup Curio is a retail and service business blending beauty, theater, special effects, and skincare. Customers can shop the retail store, book a private lesson or join a group workshop, and transform themselves with facials, waxing and makeup artist services. Curated brands carried include Graftobian, Makeup Eraser, The Balm, Skin Illustrator, Rubber Wear and more.
Jenn Dugan believes in the transformative power of makeup, not only on the physical outside, but what makeup and skincare can do to transform us on the inside. The Makeup Curio was created out of the recognition of a need to create a safe, welcoming environment for customers to explore their curiosity and their desire for transformation.
Jenn has a background in theater and film having freelanced around the country as a costume designer and shop manager before settling back into the Capital Region in 2008. In spring 2016, Jenn participated in the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and Competition, coming in second place with her business plan. She recently received her NYS Esthetics License after completing the program at Aesthetic Science Institute and is also a graduate of Schenectady County Community College with an AAS in Business Administration.
The Makeup Curio’s mission is to provide a transformative experience that allows customers to express themselves. Knowledgable staff will guide customers in product selection for at home personal use, or through safe and clean services, leaving customers feeling energetic and refreshed, and either beautiful or perfectly weird.
