Mabee presents Schenectady 200: World Class Port

Mabee Farm Historic Site invites you to join them for a special presentation by historian Phil Lord on Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m.

Two hundred years ago, Schenectady boasted a world class harbor; an international port that saw the passage of people and goods from across the western world. Schenectady was the gateway to America’s west, and the key to westward expansion in the emerging nation. Join historian Phil Lord as he discusses Schenectady’s role as one of the great American ports in the early 19th century, and explores how it all came to be — and what ultimately happened to Schenectady’s bustling harbor.

This event will be held at Mabee Farm Historic Site, 1100 Main Street, Rotterdam Junction, NY. The cost will be free for Schenectady County Historical Society members and $5.00 for others.

For more information, please contact curator@schenectadyhistorical.org or 518.887.5073. The Mabee Farm Historic Site is wheelchair accessible, with off-street parking in front of the George E. Franchere Educational Center.
