February 26, 2020LifeSong Inc. to Host Eighth Annual LifeSong Dash 5K on June 6, 2020
LifeSong Inc. (a non-profit 501c3 company) will be hosting the eighth annual LifeSong Dash 5k on Saturday, June 6th, 2020! The USATF-certified road race features an international field of competitive distance runners, but is also open to local competitors of all ages looking to set a personal record or just out to enjoy a beautiful early June day. The 5K starts at 10 a.m., preceded by the “Junior Dash” one-mile race for ages 12 and under at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is available for both races beginning March 1 at 12 noon at www.lifesongdash.com. Registration will also be available on race day. Individual and team categories are available, with the top two runners in each age group receiving medals and the top finishing team earning the prestigious LifeSong Dash trophy!
The Dash is a Character Counts, family fun-filled day of celebration and an excellent opportunity for the community to partner with the valuable work of our agency.
LifeSong is pleased to provide day services to over 150 individuals and families of differing abilities throughout the Capital District. Our Community Based Program provides opportunities for community involvement that are achieved through volunteer efforts, education & recreation. Participants give back to the community daily while gaining valuable personal skills and confidence through volunteering for over 40 local non-profit organizations per week. Our Supplemental Day Program provides occasional evening and weekend enrichment opportunities through attendance to plays, concerts, sporting events. Highlights of the year include annual trips to museums, zoos and baseball games such as visiting Yankee Stadium. Our Employment Services Program currently supports over 70 individuals in various stages of job development. The Employment team supports individual by assisting with resume building, job application, interviewing skills and job coaching. The success of the individual is based on their own merit; Employment Services helps everyone become the best employee they can be. Your investment in LifeSong, Inc. strengthens our ability to love, enhance, equip and inspire this deserving population.
But the LifeSong Dash is more than a race – it’s an exciting opportunity to enhance the lives of some of our best friends. The funds raised from the Dash have been used in a variety of ways. One year we created a professional music studio, complete with many instruments, where LifeSong participants can record vocal tracks, albums, or just jam out with their friends! Another year we invested in our Landscaping department, which provides high quality service to local non-profits. The funds from this year’s Dash will be used for programmatic activities to support people served.

Throughout the morning there will be food vendors, live music, kids’ activities (Face painting, rock climbing wall, bounce house), pre- and post-race massages, raffles and giveaways and more!
Needed: Volunteers – We need helpers of all ages to help the event run smoothly! Water station support, course marshals and much more will be needed. All volunteers receive a commemorative t-shirt plus credit for food at the event!
