Let’s Go Blue in March

Colorectal cancer awareness month is coming up in March. The Cancer Services Program of Albany and Rensselaer Counties offers free breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screenings to uninsured women 40-64 years old and men 50-64 years old. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in New York State, but it doesn’t have to be — regular screening can prevent colorectal cancer. Screening tests can often detect the growths (polyps) that turn into cancer. These growths can then be removed before they turn into cancer. If colon cancer is found early, treatment can be very effective.

If you are interested in “Going Blue” for colorectal cancer awareness month, please reach out to Melissa Trainor or Samantha Wagor at 518-525-8684 or 518-525-8763. Whether it’s for a day, or the whole month; wearing a blue ribbon or shirt, or something bigger- any efforts to raise awareness would be appreciated. Thank you!
