Leading The Way: Advancing Maternal Health with Jubilant Birth Albany

United Way of the Greater Capital Region is proud to launch Jubilant Birth Albany—a groundbreaking program that underscores our commitment to Leading The Way toward a healthier, more equitable community.

After two years of careful planning, we officially unveiled this initiative on Monday at The Blake Annex, surrounded by our incredible funders and community partners. This program is designed to support maternal health and birth equity in Albany County, empowering mothers and their babies to thrive.

This community-driven initiative provides $1,000 per month for 12 months to 25 low-income, pregnant women in Albany County. These unconditional cash payments aim to reduce the financial stress of pregnancy and early parenting, fostering healthier outcomes for both mothers and their infants.

Participants will also have access to a full suite of prenatal, birthing, and postnatal support services offered by our dedicated partners: BirthNet, CEK RN Consulting, and the March of Dimes.

Jubilant Birth Albany is made possible thanks to the generous support of our funders:
• The Carl E. Touhey Foundation – $325,000
• Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York – $175,000
• Hudson Valley Credit Union – $5,000
• Albany County Executive Dan McCoy’s Office – $200,000 (ARPA grant)

Their belief in this mission has transformed an ambitious vision into reality, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership.

Jubilant Birth Albany has the potential to disrupt intergenerational cycles of poverty, alleviate toxic stress, and provide a foundation where children can grow into healthy, thriving adults.

Join us in building a healthier, more equitable Capital Region where every family has the opportunity to succeed. Your support of United Way makes programs like this possible.
