Lavelle & Finn, LLP Elevate James D. Wighaus to Associate Attorney

Lavelle & Finn, LLP is pleased to announce that James D. Wighaus has been elevated to the position of Associate Attorney upon earning admission to the New York State Bar.

James began his Lavelle & Finn, LLP career as a law clerk soon after his 2018 graduation from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. Prior to law school, James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Hartwick College, where he was also a member of the football program as both a player and coach, and Recruitment Director of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

In considering what was important to him personally and professionally, James quickly realized that his desire to help people achieve their objectives in a caring and compassionate way aligned perfectly with the firm’s own principles and goals. As Associate Attorney, James will continue to support the firm’s clients by contributing to the development of plans that encompass all aspects of estate and elder law planning, estate and trust administration, business consulting, and tax planning.

When asked about James, Partner Martin S. Finn, JD, LL.M., CPA/PFS praised him as a “wonderful addition to the Lavelle & Finn family! He is bright, energetic, and already a major contributor in serving our clients’ needs”. Echoing Attorney Finn’s sentiment, Partner Amy L. Earing believes that James “is a valuable addition not only to our firm but to the legal profession. His hard work and dedication will undoubtedly bring him much success. We are excited to welcome him into this next stage of his career.”

When he is not busy lawyering, James enjoys participating in outdoor activities and rooting for his beloved New York Jets and Rangers.

James and his fiancée Heather live in Malta with their dog King.
