July 9, 2015Land Bank Provides Demolition Schedule
The Capital Region Land Bank has issued a schedule for upcoming demolitions in the City of Schenectady.
Richard Ruzzo, Chairman of the Land Bank and a member of the Schenectady County Legislature said,
“This summer will be a busy time for the Land Bank as we continue to work hard with our partners to demolish blighted properties, bring enhanced value to our neighborhoods and improve our community at large.”
Schenectady received $2.5 million from Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s Land Bank Program to help fund building renovation and demolition projects that improve Schenectady neighborhoods. The City of Schenectady is also using $3 million in HUD funding to also fight blight and fund demolition projects.
Mayor Gary McCarthy said, “By working with our partners at the County and at the Land Bank, we will continue to show progress as we knock down buildings that are beyond repair while helping to renovate others for new homeowners.”
The Land Bank demolished 2 Nott Terrace Heights last week. Demolition work on 795 Eastern Avenue is underway.
