Justin Hoyt Named Athletic Director at Hudson Valley Community College

Justin Hoyt, who has served as assistant athletic director and sports information director at Hudson Valley Community College for more than five years, was recently named the college’s athletic director.

Hoyt will oversee 18 NJCAA Region III sports and more than 300 student-athletes. His responsibilities include administering the athletic program’s annual budget and supervising all facets of the athletic department.

Hoyt was involved in the planning and creation of the college’s new $4.5 million Outdoor Athletic Complex. He also oversaw the recent addition of men’s and women’s track and field and men’s golf, both of which will begin competing next spring. With the addition of those two programs, Hudson Valley will have the second largest athletic program in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region III, which includes all of upstate New York.

“I am truly honored that President Matonak and Vice President Popovics have given me the opportunity to lead the Athletic Department,” Hoyt said. “Hudson Valley has a rich tradition of success both on and off the field, and I look to uphold the college’s high standards of academic and athletic excellence.”

Prior to joining Hudson Valley Community College, Hoyt worked at D’Youville College where he was responsible for sports information duties and supervision of athletic events. He also gained experience in game management and marketing and promotions while working in the athletic department at Clemson University.

Hoyt received his bachelor’s degree in sport management, with a minor in business, from Clemson University and a master’s degree in sport administration from Canisius College.
