Joseph’s House & Shelter Acquires Homeless Action Committee

The Chamber was delighted to partake in a ribbon cutting for Joseph’s House & Shelter. The Chamber with its Ambassadors, local elected officials, community supporters, friends, family and staff were all on hand to congratulate this great organization on their expansion. The Joseph’s House & Shelter took over the former Homeless Action Committee.

This action occurred at the request of HAC’s board of directors, who concluded that the transfer of the organization’s single room occupancy (SRO) residence as well as its homeless street outreach program was in the best interest of its tenants and participants.

For the past year and a half, Joseph’s House & Shelter has been operating HAC’s residence (recently renamed ‘Kendal House’) and its daily HAC mobile outreach van.  They have collaborated closely with Albany service providers and their aim is to engage unsheltered persons and link them as soon as possible with safe housing.

They promise to work hard to uphold the legacy of previous contributions to HAC and hope the community continues to support these programs now run by Joseph’s House & Shelter.
