Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia Awarded Grant

Schenectady Community Home, Inc. aka Joan Nicole Prince Home is grateful for the generous $10,000.00 grant awarded from The Dominic Ferraioli Foundation.

The Dominic Ferraioli Foundation is a private foundation established in 2001 under the Last Will & Testament of Dominic Ferraioli to make grants to domestic § 501 (c) (3) organizations. The Mission of the Foundation is to further the values and goals of Mr. Ferraioli with particular consideration to aiding and assisting medical facilities, for the exclusive purpose of making grants to support and promote discovery and development in medicine, science, and technology in the Capital District.

The Joan Nicole Prince Home provides a safe, comfortable, caring residence to terminally ill patients in need of a home during their final days. Also, for many years, the JNP Home has offered unique educational programs providing the Capital Region’s health professions students an opportunity to learn first-hand about the challenges of providing care when no cure is possible and introduce the importance of providing dignity, comfort and patient-centered care in the last few weeks and months of life. As a result of these funds: terminally ill individuals with limited resources will spend the final days of their life in a comfortable, home-like setting that is able to meet their physical, emotional and social needs; family members will be provided with the supportive services needed to ensure affordable home-like care for their loved ones during the final three months of their life and medical and other healthcare students will gain valuable experience with provision of holistic end-of-life care under the supervision of trained health care professionals.
