The Independent Network Operations Consortium (INOC) recently received its SOC 2 Type 2 report, according to President Jim Becker. INOC provides high-end data services, internet connectivity, disaster recovery, colocation and managed hosting solutions from its two Albany locations. The SOC 2 Type 2 audit is a mechanism for service organizations to report on the design and effectiveness of its policies, procedures and controls.
“The SOC 2 Type 2 audit was a rigorous independent assessment of the company’s operating procedures showing INOC has met its control objectives,” said Becker. Both of INOC’s data centers are included in the SSAE 16 SOC 2 audit covering all facets of operations from maintenance, to policies and procedures and client interaction. “This audit illustrates the importance INOC puts on the security of our customers’ equipment and data,” said Becker. “The report is vital to our customers and prospective clients because it assures them that INOC meets a certain level of data protection and availability.”
INOC was founded in December 2000 by subsidiaries of four upstate New York Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs). Founding members are The Middleburgh Telephone Co. in Middleburgh, State Telephone Co. in Coxsackie, Germantown Telephone Co. in Germantown and Pattersonville Telephone Co. in Rotterdam Junction.
Through partnerships and growth, INOC’s network presence has expanded to cover most of New York and several neighboring states providing connectivity to numerous hospitals, educational institutes and businesses of varying sizes. The company provides ISP services for many Public Service Commission-regulated ILECs and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), healthcare, state government and educational industries, as well as ISP, colocation, cloud, backup and disaster recovery needs.
