Human Rights Activist Stuart Milk Speaking at UAlbany

Stuart Milk, the nephew of gay rights activist and University at Albany alum Harvey Milk, will be on campus Thursday to give a lecture on “Global LGBT+ Rights and the Power of Your Story.”

In 1978, Harvey Milk was assassinated in San Francisco, where he served as a city supervisor. Fifty years later his legacy continues through his nephew, an internationally recognized human rights activist and the co-founder of the Harvey Milk Foundation.

With the recent New York Times report that the Trump Administration is considering rolling back efforts to recognize and protect transgender people, Milk’s message is especially relevant.

Stuart Milk, along with Courtney D’Allaird, the coordinator of UAlbany’s Gender & Sexuality Resource Center, is available to speak to the press.
