Hudson Valley Credit Union Announces Promotions

Hudson Valley Credit Union (HVCU) is excited to announce the following: 

Gary Barker has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Senior Director of Banking Products. In this role, Gary is responsible for managing HVCU’s Deposit, Lending and Payment products for both Consumer and Business. He works closely with internal and external partners to optimize product functionality, structure, and pricing to support fostering financial freedom for members through the products and services that HVCU offers.

Robert Borland has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Senior Director of Treasury Operations. Robert oversees HVCU’s investment portfolio and leads the credit union’s asset liability and liquidity management programs. He is responsible for implementing and managing tools that measure, monitor, and mitigate risks associated with Asset-Liability Management (ALM)/interest rates and liquidity to ensure adherence to Board-approved policies and regulatory requirements.

Greg Crispell has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer. He oversees general accounting operations and all internal and external reporting that accurately reflects the financial position of HVCU. In this role, he partners closely with organizational leaders to develop financial systems, strategies, and budgets that support key initiatives and goals. Greg also serves as the primary accounting liaison for internal and external audits and regulatory examinations, while continuing to strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure data integrity and accuracy.

Lori Downing has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of Banking Risk. In this role, she partners with leaders across the organization to strengthen risk management practices, enhance operational excellence, and ensure regulatory compliance throughout the Banking Division. Her leadership in building the Banking Risk function and advancing strategic initiatives has helped position HVCU for continued growth and success.

Erin Hartnagel has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of Strategy and Transformation, leading efforts to turn the credit union’s vision into actionable strategies and meaningful outcomes. She works closely with leaders to explore opportunities, identify emerging needs, and develop strategic plans that align business priorities with the cooperative’s strategic goals. Erin also provides strategic stewardship for HVCU’s transformational efforts, helping ensure initiatives remain aligned, ready for success, and positioned to deliver long-term value.

Bob Kelly has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of Banking Administration. Bob oversees the Outbound Driven Initiatives Team, Business Analytics, and the Remote Coaching Program. In this role, he leads the ATM and ITM strategies, sales incentive planning, budget management, staffing, project coordination, and organizational planning. Through cross-functional collaboration and data-driven decision-making, he helps enhance the employee and member experience while advancing HVCU’s business objectives.

Bill Lionhood has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Development, leading efforts to identify, evaluate, and advance inorganic and adjacent growth opportunities that support HVCU’s long-term growth strategy, including mergers and acquisitions and strategic partnerships. He works closely with leaders to pursue opportunities that strengthen member value, diversify revenue, and enhance the organization’s competitive position. He also explores opportunities to commercialize products and services that benefit other credit unions and financial institutions while supporting HVCU’s Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) strategy and creating new sources of value for the organization.

Christy Mitchell has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Senior Director of Business Effectiveness. Christy drives organizational performance by developing leaders, enhancing employee engagement, improving operational processes, and advancing continuous improvement initiatives. Partnering across the Member Operations organization, she strengthens leadership capabilities and optimizes business operations with a strong focus on organizational effectiveness, change management, and performance improvement, to ensure teams are equipped to adapt, grow, and achieve strategic objectives.

Jesse Petrillo has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Senior Director of Member Operations Administration, where he leads strategic initiatives that enhance the member and employee experience for HVCU. By leveraging data, technology, and cross-functional partnerships, he helps improve efficiency, performance, and member impact across all Member Operations business lines. He also oversees the administrative functions that support Member Operations, including strategic planning, reporting, project and vendor management, and budgeting.
