Hoffman Car Wash & Hoffman Jiffy Lube Award 15 Scholarships Capital Region Locals Benefit From High Education Advancement Program

Fifteen Hoffman Car Wash and Hoffman Jiffy Lube employees were selected as recipients of the 2019 Hoffman Scholarship Award. Currently in its third year, the Hoffman Scholarship Program was created to help incentivize employees to further their education. The winners, who each receive a $1,000 scholarship, were recognized at an awards reception earlier in June.

Of the 15 winners, seven are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree, while the remaining eight completed their senior year of high school in June. Three of this year’s recipients received the scholarship for the second consecutive year, while one received it for the third time.

In order to qualify for the award, employees must have worked for the company for at least six months, averaging 12 hours per week and hold a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Below is a list of this year’s recipients:

  • Nicholas Basco (Latham Car Wash) – Nicholas graduated from Shaker High School and will attend Nichols College in the fall, where he will also be play Division III volleyball.
  • Ryan Bruzdzinski (Clifton Park Car Wash) – Ryan graduated from Shenendehowa High School and is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and DECA. He will be attending UNC Charlotte in the fall, majoring in accounting.
  • Kassie Buffman (Colonie Car Wash) – An anthropology major at University at Albany, Kassie holds a 3.67 grade point average and is a member of the Presidential Honor Society.
  • Andrew Davenport (Colonie Car Wash) – Andrew graduated from Colonie Central High School and will be majoring in criminal justice at University at Albany in the fall.
  • Emily Davenport (Colonie Car Wash) – Emily is a law & society major at the Sage Colleges, where she is also a member of the women’s soccer team.
  • Tyler Fitzgerald (Clifton Park Car Wash) – A Shenendehowa High School graduate, Tyler will be majoring in criminal justice with a concentration in investigative services at the University of New Haven.
  • Cassie Hindes (Colonie Car Wash) – Cassie graduated from Colonie Central High School and will be pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
  • Aaron Hinman (Southern Saratoga Car Wash) – Aaron, who is a two-time recipient of the scholarship, received his associate degree in criminal justice from SUNY Adirondack, graduating with a 3.3 grade point average. He will be attending University at Albany in the fall, pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. His goal is to become as a New York State Trooper.
  • Binh Ho (Troy Car Wash) – An engineering science major at Hudson Valley Community College, Binh holds a 3.64 grade point average and is a member of the chess club and the soccer club.
  • Jordan Leandro (Latham Car Wash) – Jordan graduated from Shaker High School and will be majoring in nursing at Hartwick College with the goal of pursuing a career as a nurse anesthetist.
  • Connor Luibrand (Latham Car Wash) – Connor completed his senior year at Shaker High School and will be attending Hudson Valley Community College, majoring in electrical, construction and maintenance.
  • Mikayla Luskin (Colonie Car Wash) – Mikayla is a biology/allied health major at Chowan University where she plays Division II softball. She is a two-time recipient of the Hoffman Scholarship.
  • Shaun May (Clifton Park Car Wash) – Shaun, who received the award for the third consecutive year, is an Accounting major at University at Albany with a 3.73 grade point average.
  • Aiden Strain (Clifton Park Car Wash) – A two-time recipient of the scholarship, Aiden is a finance major at Bentley University with a 3.66 grade point average.  He also participates in the Bentley Investment Group and the Bentley Real Estate Group.
  • Thomas Webster (Saratoga Car Wash) – Thomas graduated from Ballston Spa High School and will be majoring in psychology with a concentration in education at Le Moyne College.
