Hill & Markes Celebrates Team Building Day with Donation

Hill & Markes, Inc. donates 50 care kits and food to the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center

Hill & Markes, a wholesale distributer, celebrated their team building day spreading kindness.  Hill & Markes employees teamed up with vendors and local companies such as GOJO, Essendant and C.R.E.A.T.E Community Studios to make care kits filled with supplies. The staff painted rocks with colorful messages of strength and kindness in hopes of brightening a child’s day. Hill & Markes then sent food, catered by Mallozzi’s (Schenectady, NY), for the fearless families and staff at the hospital to enjoy.

“We often hear from our families at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Med that some of their biggest needs, while they are here, are meals and hygiene products. Most of our families come to the hospital unexpectedly, emergently and without bringing anything with them,” said Emily Corwin, certified child life specialist. “Hill & Markes’ generosity in providing a Friday meal from Mallozzi’s in Schenectady and care kits for our families made such a difference to their hospital stay. As our families gathered in together to socialize and enjoy a delicious meal – the best meal many had eaten in days – the room was filled with joy. We cannot thank Hill & Markes and Mallozzi’s enough for thinking of our pediatric patients and their families and wanting to give back in such an impactful and important way.”

Hill & Markes employees filled the care kits with Purell sanitizer, whiteboards with markers, decks of cards, tissues, toothbrushes, kindness rocks and more. The care kits were brought to the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital to be distributed to children in need. This teambuilding activity inspired the entire Hill & Markes staff to work together for a meaningful cause. Hill & Markes sincerely hopes to have made a difference in lives of the children and families affected.

Jillian DeGiulio, Human Resource Manager at Hill & Markes said, “Our employees look forward to this day all year long because they know, not only will they get to team build with their co-workers, but there will be some kind of activity that lets them give back. Being able to do something to spread positivity and influence the lives of children and families in need in our community is one of the most significant and special things you can do as a human being. Giving back really uplifts people and you could see it written all over the faces of our employees!”
