April 9, 2021High School Students From a Dozen Schools to Compete in State Competition
Twenty-one students from a dozen area school districts will represent Capital Region BOCES during a statewide competition that tests their abilities in the skilled trades and workplace.
The students, who hail from as diverse districts as Guilderland, Schenectady and Schoharie, are competing in events that showcase their work-related skills. The competition is being conducted virtually this year as a result of COVID19 precautions and will take place the week of April 12. Winners will advance to the national SkillsUSA competition in June.
Students compete in everything from demonstrating a knowledge of proper welding techniques to demonstrating how to solve a crime through their crime scene investigatory skills.
Taking part in the competition, their program and their home school districts are as follows:
