Harris Beach PLLC Elects Three Capital Region Attorneys as Partners

Capital Region Attorneys Myles Fischer, Daniel LeCours and Aubrey Ohanian have been elected partners of Harris Beach PLLC, effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Aubrey Ohanian focuses her practice in the areas of energy law and appellate practice. As a member of the firm’s Energy Industry Team, Aubrey advises clients on regulatory matters before the New York PSC, including representing transmission developers in securing Certificates of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need (CECPN) pursuant to Article VII of the Public Service Law (PSL), gas and electric corporations seeking to transfer or lease regulated assets and secure Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN), and utilities in rate case proceedings. Aubrey has extensive experience with the NYISO’s Public Policy Transmission Planning Process due to her representation of a developer that was selected to satisfy an identified Public Policy Transmission Need. Aubrey’s practice also includes representing renewable energy developers as they seek to secure renewable energy credits from NYSERDA. She also represented a nuclear decommissioning company in securing PSC approval for the first transfer of a retired nuclear-powered electric generation facility in New York. Aubrey graduated from Albany Law School in 2014.

Daniel LeCours is an experienced litigator who handles a wide range of commercial litigation matters, arbitrations and appeals, including class actions, antitrust, breach of contract, fraud, real property litigation, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, election law litigation, business disputes and business torts, and professional malpractice. Dan represents clients from a wide variety of industries, including financial institutions, municipalities and other governmental entities, real property investors and developers, insurance companies, hospitals and other health care institutions, and contractors. Dan has experience managing complex and high-stakes litigation in both state and federal courts, including matters with substantial e-discovery issues. Dan also has significant trial experience in both state and federal courts. Dan graduated from Rutgers University School of Law in 2011.

Myles Fischer guides clients through sophisticated estate planning, estate and trust administration, and tax matters. His focus includes estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, income tax planning and business succession planning. Myles has extensive experience with complex estates and applies creative and tailored strategies, such as grantor-retained interest trusts, split-interest charitable trusts, sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts, life insurance and split-dollar planning, dynastic trust planning, and asset protection planning to help his clients achieve their planning goals in a tax-efficient manner. Myles graduated from the Albany Law School in 2009 and earned an LLM in taxation from the University of Miami Law School in 2010.

Myles, Aubrey and Dan all work from Harris Beach offices in the Capital Region. Harris Beach elected an additional six attorneys as partner who are based in offices outside the Albany area.
