Gretchen Guenther-Collins rejoins Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C.

A familiar face has returned to Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) as the firm announced that Gretchen Guenther-Collins, J.D. M.S., CPA has rejoined the area’s largest CPA firm in the capacity of tax manager. Guenther-Collins, a graduate from The College of Saint Rose, who earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting as well as her Master of Science in Accounting, was previously an audit manager with the firm from 2000 – 2007 before taking a 10 year hiatus to pursue her own business and work in the legal and higher education industries.

After her departure from TBC, Guenther-Collins transitioned from an adjunct professor at the College of Saint Rose and began as a full time accounting instructor at the College in January of 2007. She then rose all the way to the interim Dean of the Huether School of Business in 2016. Meanwhile, she pursued her Juris Doctorate at Albany Law School and completed two legal internships before earning her degree in December 2014. She was admitted to the 3rd Department of the NYS Court System in July of 2015.

Separate from her academia responsibilities and legal pursuant, Guenther-Collins provides all of the finance functions within her family’s specialty food distribution company in Menands, NY.
In her new role at TBC, Guenther-Collins will focus her time on individual and corporate taxation, including tax planning as well as tax compliance issues. She is presently serving as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Albany Damien Center and has held several roles in other not-for-profit organizations over the past 12 years.

Managing Partner Jim Drislane expressed the shareholder group’s elation at Guenther-Collins’ decision to return to her roots at TBC. “We are beyond proud to welcome Gretchen back in her new capacity as a tax manager. With her expertise in private industry, public accounting and teaching we know that our clients and our staff will benefit greatly from her guidance and intellect,” Drislane said.
All of the firm’s full-time employees continue to work out of one office location at 7 Washington Square in Albany.
