Greater Capital Region Teacher Center Provides Critical Professional Learning to Build Teacher Capacity During Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the landscape of teaching in ways that few could have imagined. The very craft of teaching has become new again, even for the most experienced of teachers, and many need creative strategies and solutions to ensure student success this year. Standing at the ready, uniquely positioned to provide teachers with whatever instruction they may need in order to best serve the needs of their students, is Greater Capital Region Teacher Center.

Greater Capital Region Teacher Center is part of a large network of Teacher Centers which offer thousands of critical programs to educators at low or no cost. These programs include fundamental technology applications to sustain virtual learning, trauma awareness and support strategies to better understand the pandemic and its effect on students and their families, and many other valuable courses designed to help teachers equitably meet the needs of all learners. “Led by teachers, in collaboration with higher education, parent-teacher organizations and local business and industry partners, these programs are ideal for fostering innovation, addressing gaps and adapting to emerging needs,” explains Valerie Lovelace, Executive Director.

As a proud member of the Capital Region Chamber, Greater Capital Region Teacher Center values the many contributions of fellow Chamber members who continue to champion the vital work of Teacher Centers. With no clear end in sight for this pandemic, and the needs of students and educators increasing at a rapid pace, teachers need Greater Capital Region Teacher Center more than ever.
