Girls Inc. Celebrates Completion of New Building Entrance

Girls Inc. celebrated the completion of their new building entrance makeover with a ribbon cutting on Monday, October 19 at the Schenectady location, 962 Albany Street. Joining Executive Director Ashley Jeffrey in cutting the ribbon were Mayor Gary McCarthy, City Councilwomen Leesa Perazzo, Schenectady Foundation Executive Director Robert Carreau, Chamber Ambassadors, Girls Inc. staff and many of the girls the agency serves. The makeover was made possible by donations from The Schenectady Foundation, the Carlilian Foundation, and Turner Construction who supplied the manpower to complete the job. The new entrance is now ADA compliant and features new easier to open doors for the girls and staff.

For nearly 80 years, Girls Inc. has been working to meet the unique developmental and emotional needs of girls 5-18 throughout the Capital Region. Up to 200 girls are served each day in their free after school programs in the Albany and Schenectady centers. Girls Inc. helps girls become healthy, educated and independent and inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
