Former NYSERDA General Counsel Joins Hodgson Russ

Hodgson Russ is pleased to announce that Noah Shaw, former General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Directors at the New York State Energy Research and Development Association (NYSERDA), has joined the firm as a Partner and Co-Chair of the Renewable Energy Practice. Noah concentrates his practice on renewable energy, sustainable development, cleantech, land use, economic development and related energy matters. He will reside in the Saratoga Springs office, also working regularly out of the Albany and New York City offices.

As General Counsel of NYSERDA, Noah provided broad legal and strategic advice regarding the State’s renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives, including the recently passed Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, the state’s Offshore Wind and large-scale wind programs, solar, energy storage, efficiency and clean transportation programs. Prior to joining NYSERDA, Noah was Senior Advisor to the General Counsel at the United States Department of Energy.

Further bolstering the firm’s already strong and growing Renewable Energy Practice, Hodgson Russ also welcomes Peter S. Ross as a Senior Associate in our Litigation and Renewable Energy Practices. Prior to establishing a solo practice, Peter held the position of Director of Policy and Business Development for a national developer, builder, and operator of commercial-scale solar and energy storage systems. Peter will reside in the New York City office.

“We are pleased to welcome Noah and Peter to the firm,” said Dan Spitzer, Co-Chair of the Renewable Energy Practice. “With their deep bench of experience at both the federal and state levels, these two gentlemen will bring a significant level of insight benefiting our clients that reside in the rapidly evolving energy industry.”

The news of the arrival of Noah and Peter closely follows last week’s announcement that Glen Doherty, Laurence Fox, Edward Kowalewski, Jr., Christopher Massaroni and Scott Paton also joined Hodgson Russ. The addition of these seven attorneys enhances the firm’s ability to support existing clients and provides additional leverage to recruit new clients, both within the Capital District and across the state.
