April 28, 2020Flatley Read Announces Online EPA-Accredited Lead Training for Contractors
Flatley Read, an Environmental Protection Agency accredited training provider, is proud to announce that we will be offering online lead-safe trainings for contractors. The announcement comes following Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order on 100% workforce reduction and limits to social gatherings. Proctored exams and hands-on training is still required to be done in person.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires firms performing work in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities to be trained in lead-safe work practices by an accredited training firm. Minor renovations, repairs, and painting require an 8-hour training course, whereas demolition or abatement requires more extensive training. Contractors that fail to comply with EPA requirements could result in penalties of up to $37,500 per day per violation.
Participants will receive an emailed link to a Zoom meeting, which will take place at the same time as the original classroom training. Upon completion of the online training, the trainer will schedule appointments for one-on-one hands on activities and testing, to be conducted in person from a safe social distance within 2-5 business days of the online training. Students will be required to provide their own masks for this appointment. Course completion certificates will be issued upon completion of a proctored test.

- Lead Abatement Worker
- Lead Abatement Supervisor
- Lead Inspector
- Lead Risk Assessor
