First Woman to Lead 108-Year YMCA Camp Chingachgook

The Capital District YMCA is pleased to announce the promotion of Jiné Andreozzi to Executive Director of YMCA Camp Chingachgook, the first woman to hold this position since the Camp was established on Lake George, in 1913.

Andreozzi is proud to call herself a lifelong Chingachgook Kid, beginning her journey as a camper and progressing through almost every summer job Chingachgook offers before returning to Chingachgook full-time in 2015.

Originally from Albany, NY, Jiné is a graduate of Ithaca College. Prior to working at Chingachgook, she spent time working for the American Camp Association – New England. In 2018, she was the recipient of the American Camp Association’s Jack Weiner Leadership Award, which recognizes nation-wide excellence in camp leadership, and she currently serves as the Marketing Chair on the Northeast YMCA Camp Conference Committee.

Andreozzi has worked in the camp and outdoor recreation industry seasonally and full-time for more than 15 years and is passionate about the Capital District YMCA’s mission, especially their commitment to equity.

In her new role, Andreozzi will oversee all Camp operations to ensure it meets ACA standards and is a place of safety while she develops, aligns, and executes the annual operating objectives and business plan for Chingachgook. She will lead a culture of integrity and impact, and an environment of learning that embraces diverse perspectives and approaches. She will ensure effective systems, provide tools, and align resources that develop staff, as well as volunteers, in a manner that demonstrates cause-driven leadership.

She will also be chiefly responsible for cultivating and maintaining excellent working relationships with community organizations and YMCA volunteers, and serve as a community leader, building collaborations based on trust and credibility to advance the Y’s mission and goals.

“We’re delighted to welcome Jiné to this Senior Leadership position, knowing she brings a wealth of critical camp knowledge and experience with her. Long before today, Jiné has illustrated the attributes we look for in a successful leader. I am confident that as Jiné leads our efforts at Chingachgook, she will continue to ensure that we develop youth who are ready and eager to improve our world,” noted Capital District YMCA President/CEO J. David Brown.

“To be able to serve as the first female Executive Director in Chingachgook’s history is a fact that will continually inspire and humble me as I work to further Camp’s mission. Our communities need camp and the outdoors now more than ever, and I could not be more excited to work alongside our staff and volunteers to make Camp more accessible for all! Chingachgook is so much more than a place; it’s a community of incredible people from all walks of life and I look forward to spending many more summers helping create the camp magic that makes Chingachgook so special. I am grateful to my camp family for all their support and I look forward to taking on this new role with them by my side,” noted Andreozzi.

Andreozzi will begin her new role at the Y April 1, 2021.
