Empire Declare A “Code Orange” For Saturday’s Game Vs Washington

The Albany Empire have declared a “CODE ORANGE” for Saturday’s game vs The Washington Valor at the Times Union Center.  Saturday’s block party, presented by Heineken & Miller Lite will begin at 4:30pm. The game will kick off at 7:30pm. The game will be broadcast live nationally on CBS Sports Network and on the radio locally on Alt 105.7 fm.

“CODE ORANGE” means that the organization is asking all loyal fans in attendance at the game to wear the team’s primary color; orange.  The team will be wearing their alternate home uniform, which highlights both an Orange jersey and pants, and the organization will be giving out free Orange Rally Towels to the first 10,000 fans through the gates, sponsored by CDPHP and the CDTA.

“The team has gotten off to a slower start than anticipated, but it’s time to get that first win this Saturday at home in front of our fans,” said Empire VP of Business Operations George Manias.  “We want nothing more than to see how loud it gets inside of the Times Union Center when the final buzzer sounds with the Empire coming out on top.”

“CODE ORANGE” is being declared so that the fans can show the team that they are behind them and see the significant progress the team has made in our first two games of our existence.  At the same time, for our team to show our fans that they feel their passion and intend to match that on the field all week in practice and at the game so we can bring them our first win in our house this Saturday.

“I love that we are declaring CODE ORANGE,” said Head Coach Rob Keefe. “To me, it is bond between the fans and our coaches and players where we promise to work with the same intensity and passion our fans delivered at our inaugural game on April 14, and we are asking the fans not to let up, to keep the same level of intensity and be our 9th man on Saturday.  There’s no doubt when the TU Center gets rocking, it gives us a true home field advantage.”

Saturday’s block party will feature live music from “The Voice” star Moriah Formica and her band, and a special appearance from the game’s honorary captain, Empire co-owner and former NFL great Ron Jaworski.  Fans will also be able to watch the Kentucky Derby on the big screens before they head into the Empire game at approximately 6:45pm.

Fans can wear any orange shirt to show their support, and the team will have merchandise specials at their merchandise stands, including one out at the block party, on select orange Empire shirts.
