Electric City Bar & Grill Brings New Energy to Downtown Schenectady

A new dining experience has arrived in the heart of Schenectady with the opening of Electric City Bar & Grill, a locally owned restaurant created by StaEsha Anderson. Located downtown, the restaurant is the realization of Anderson’s vision and perseverance, bringing a new place for the community to gather, dine, and enjoy all that downtown Schenectady has to offer.

Friends, community members, business supporters, and local and state leaders gathered with the Capital Region Chamber to recognize the occasion and celebrate Anderson’s journey from idea to opening day.

Sean Daley of the Capital Region Chamber kicked off the celebration by welcoming guests and recognizing the determination behind bringing Electric City Bar & Grill to life.

New York State Senator James Tedisco reflected on his own history in downtown Schenectady and shared a few memories connected to the restaurant’s location. He presented Anderson with the New York State Senate 2026 Empire Award, recognizing her entrepreneurial efforts and the role small businesses play in creating jobs, driving economic activity, and contributing to vibrant communities.

Mayor Gary McCarthy marked the occasion with a City of Schenectady proclamation, recognizing Anderson’s accomplishment and welcoming Electric City Bar & Grill to the downtown business community.

On behalf of Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, Raj Ishmael presented a citation recognizing Anderson’s investment in Schenectady and shared congratulations and best wishes for the restaurant’s future.

Omar McGill, representing the Schenectady County Legislature, also recognized the commitment required to bring a restaurant from concept to reality. He thanked Anderson for investing in the community and presented a certificate commemorating the grand opening on behalf of the County Legislature and its chairman.

For Anderson, the celebration was also an opportunity to recognize the people who helped her reach the milestone. She thanked those who offered encouragement and support throughout a journey that came with its share of challenges.

Daley closed the ceremony by recognizing the many friends, Chamber members, community leaders, and business supporters who came out to celebrate, including representatives from M&T Bank. The strong turnout reflected the community excitement surrounding Electric City Bar & Grill and its next chapter in downtown Schenectady.
