Drive collects 200 Backpacks Plus Supplies

Hill & Markes Inc, a wholesale distributor, held a Backpack Drive to benefit children in need across Montgomery County. Hill & Markes employees teamed up with vendors and local companies such as GOJO, Essendant, and more to collect backpacks and school supplies. Monetary donations were matched by Hill & Markes to reach a collected total of $1,106.65. These donations were used to purchase additional backpacks and school supplies for a total of 200 backpacks filled with supplies by the Hill & Markes employees.

Andrea Finkle Packer, Vice President of Marketing, stated that “This was truly an employee effort to reach out to those in need. The sincere hope was that we make a difference in the lives of 200 children starting the school year in a few weeks. By reaching this goal, we do feel that we have done something very special as a team.”

The backpacks will be donated evenly to Fonda-Fultonville, Canajoharie and Fort Plain Schools, on August 23rd, 2017 at 9 am. The backpacks will then be distributed to the children in need.

Melanie Capron, Fonda Fultonville School Social Worker said, “We have many students in need of help to get school supplies to start the school year. We are very grateful that Hill and Markes has chosen to do a backpack drive to help students in our district. We could not provide all the supplies needed without the generous support of companies, like Hill and Markes, who donate
school supplies to our students each year.”
